I had toast for a little over a year. I was on the 14.95/mo plan. Though I had 56k isp and modem I never got more than 2.8k. Toast said it was the phone company\'s fault and qwest said they never guarantee more than 2.8k dial-ups. I switched to cable for 18.95/mo and 3mb/s download. I had a similar experience trying to cancel toast. I canceled online and by phone in March but I still got charged for April. I called about it and they said they\'d cancel it right away, but since it had gone past the billing date for April I would have to pay for May as well.
signed up for new service at 11:00, was told by rep that getting on line was very easy (about 15min) by 1:00 (same day )they still could not get me on line, (not happy with service), I called thier cancel line, was on hold for 20min, still no answer, called thier sign up (new service)line someone answered in 3 rings, I was told no problem to cancel but sorry no refund, I said that I had just signed up 2 hours ago and they could not get me on line they responded with sorry! no refund you have to pay for rest of month
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE IN TOLEDO, OHIO. They are limited to the quality of service of Verizon DSL. They are a third party and lease their lines. You are better off getting your service directly from Verizon, better service response times. Their billing is unapologetic and not flexible. In adition as of this posting they were significantly more expensive then the similar service provided by Verizon.
I\'ve used only four ISPs in the last 20 years. AT&T Yahoo was the worst service of all four. Juno was OK but when I wanted to stop the service they transferred me FOUR times before they would process my termination request!! I vowed I would never use them again. When AT&T advised me they were raising their rates from 9.95 to 15.95 (60%), that was it. I searched the net for ISPs in my area and found toast. I read several reviews and there were a few people who had a bad experience with Toast. But I decided to give them a try. It\'s been 4 months now and I am really pleased with the service. I gave them 5 stars for Speed and Performance because they offer the Accelerator at no charge and it DOES make a difference!! I will probably change from the monthly to annual plan and save even more money. Happy, happy, happy!
Easy sign-up (and cancellation). Nice that Usenet access is offered. Their turbo accelerator actually slowed down or stopped my internet access about 75% of the time. \"Preferred\" access numbers caused an unacceptably high rate of dropped sessions.
Access software set a default browser that I never could change back to my original preference. Toast.net could have been better, could have been worse.
I have been a customer of toast.net for about five years. For the first four years I was very happy with their service. I even recommended then to a few friends. During the past year though they have really gone down hill. It used to be that you could call them and get a human on the second or third ring. Now they have a real "cable company" feel to their service. Waiting on hold for 5-15 minutes now appears to be the norm. Being fed up with them, i found another isp (not sure if they are any better yet). I went to cancel my service on their website on the first of the month and was surprised to be informed that they planned to charge me for the whole month. I called them and after several minutes on hold was told that it was in the terms of service, tough luck! If this seems as crazy to you as it does to me, find another isp.
Needed a low cost dial up for a vacation home
Toast.net had plenty of local numbers and the free web accelerator it truly amazing! I still can't believe the apparent speed with only a slight downgrade of the graphics.
Wish I could give them 6 stars!
wish I could give them 6 stars!
I am totally impressed with Toast!! My connections are not dropped like the last 'local' ISP. Best of all is the customer service which actually provides service. They even called after emailing an answer to see if the problem was resolved. Not many ISPs would do that. Spam detection and virus protection are a free bonus!
